About this course

The Doctor of Philosophy (Business, Management & Entrepreneurship) is designed to prepare students for a career as an academic or researcher in the public and private sector. The research in the PhD programme is a supervised programme; providing an opportunity for students to conduct an in-depth investigation of specific research issue related to a business, management and entrepreneurship discipline which contributes to knowledge in that field of study

Application of Doctor of Philosophy in Business, Management and Entrepreneurship (PhD in BEM) in HELP University Malaysia

Can be made throughout the year and intake are open twice a year in January and July.The application must be accompanied by a preliminary proposal of approximately 3,000 words for assessment on the degree of preparedness and the potential scholarship of the student. It also allows us to identify a suitable supervisor for the research. The preliminary proposal should include the title, an introduction of what the research is about, the purpose and questions that the research seeks to address. It should also include the significance of the study, an outline of the literature that you will be reviewing, a description of the research approach and the time frame for the study.

PROGRAMME REQUIREMENT

This is a research-based PhD programme. The candidate is required to conduct independent research under an academic supervisor/supervisory committee, complete the thesis and orally defend his/her thesis in a proposal defence and attend a viva voce.

Other Requirement: Students are to acquire sufficient research skills training hours as prescribed by the faculty before the proposal defence. On top of this, a student undertaking research in the entrepreneurship-related area is required to undertake two Entrepreneurship modules:

• Managing Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
• The supervisor may prescribe other courses to the student to supplement their learning from time to time

Entry Requirements of Doctor of Philosophy in Business, Management and Entrepreneurship (PhD in BEM) in HELP University Malaysia

A recognised Master degree in business or relevant filed or other qualification approved by the HELP University Senate. International candidates must obtain a minimum English requirement of IELTS Band 6.0 OR its equivalent if their bachelor degree’s medium of language is not English. The validity of IELTS must be within 2 years from the date of admission.

Admission is subject to the approval of the research proposal and appointment of a suitably qualified supervisor to support the intended research area.
