UTM excelled globally in quantitative terms, boasting a substantial number and ratio of Ph.D. students, the research quality at UTM and Malaysian universities, in general, does not yet match that of top universities in various global regions. Nevertheless, notable progress is evident.
UTM statistics indicate a substantial improvement over the past five years, with ISI publications, accumulated impact factors, and total citations experiencing a significant increase by several hundred percent.
Now, Malaysia has attracted students from a diverse range of countries for higher education, including Ph.D. programs. Commonly, countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and Africa have been significant contributors to the international student population in Malaysia.
