Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) was established on 1st May 1997 under the Order of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (Corporation) 1997 and the Order of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (Campus) 1997 through the Government Gazette P.U (A) 132 & 133 dated 24th February 1997. UPSI aims to promote educational leadership and worldwide developments in teaching and learning. The mission of UPSI is to drive change in education through knowledge dissemination through teaching, research, publications, and community service. The university is accredited and delivers programs that graduate skilled students meeting the needs of the industry. UPSI is targeting at least 80% of final-year students to find employment relevant to their field.
The university is committed to providing a conducive learning environment, with 100% of lecture halls equipped with modern educational technologies and ensuring at least 60% of students are granted on-campus accommodations. UPSI also emphasizes faculty development, with 75% of lecturers holding PhD degrees and all required to engage in research activities.
Community service shall also become priority in UPSI, including readiness to provide a response for natural disasters within 48 hours, as well as at least 15 community volunteer activities yearly. The commitment of excellence in the services rendered is guaranteed at 85% on client satisfaction. Guided by its BITARA values, UPSI fosters a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring a positive impact on both local and international education systems.
