Established in 1998, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (Islamic Science University of Malaysia) is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Nilai (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), Negeri Sembilan. Officially recognized by the Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) is a medium-sized (uniRank enrollment range: 7,000-7,999 students) coeducational Malaysian higher education institution formally affiliated with the Islamic religion. Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 22 years old Malaysian higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment. USIM also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sports facilities, financial aids and/or scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.

The Islamic Science University of Malaysia or better known as USIM is a unique public university, offering double major academic programmes from a variety of fields that integrate the Naqli and Aqli knowledge. USIM is also the only public university where Islamization of knowledge is addressed in all its academic programmes, reviving the Islamic Renaissance.
All their academic programmes are designed to produce graduates who are able to meet the demands of various industries, knowledgeable, proficient in Arabic and English and well versed in the soft skills and they have a good blend of local and international academic staff, who are highly qualified and experienced and are distinguished experts in their respective fields.
Nilai is a town located in Seremban District, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Due to its proximity, and connection through the KTM to Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, it is a rapidly growing town. Development projects can be seen as one drives around Nilai. Two of Malaysia's most well-known colleges and two universities are located in Nilai: Nilai University, INTI International University, Manipal International University, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia and Islamic University College of Malaysia. As a result, the town is occupied by students from all over the world. Students from over 30 countries can be seen in Nilai.
A bus service for USIM students is also provided at certain timing to commute within the campus area. The shuttle service is limited to three buses at a time, thus students are advised to walk around campus.
USIM also has their very own Health Centre that provides its staff and students medical services, including outpatient treatment, on-call, emergency and stand-by, haemodialysis, dental, and a Wellness Clinic with gymnasium and rehabilitation services.
The University Health Centre is currently housing eleven staff consisting of a medical officer, an assistant medical officer, an assistant pharmacist, three staff nurses, an assistant administrative officer, an assistant officer, a health attendant, and two ambulance drivers.
USIM has a Student Housing Centre who is responsible for the management of five residential colleges, where its four colleges are located in Kampus Nilai and another in Kampus Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur. Currently, they are maintaining more than 6,000 beds in all of the residential colleges. In addition, the Centre is also responsible for the standardization of the Off-Campus Students Management Office (3PLK), which is assigned to oversee the welfare of off-campus students through the Off-Campus Students Secretariat (OCSS).
