Overview

Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) is an institution of higher education that produces human resources, experts, and professionals in a variety of fields. With the ultimate vision of imparting high-quality education to a local and global community of students and scholars, UMS has set for itself a high standard of scholarship. Our undergraduates, as well as postgraduate students, receive guidance and learning opportunities in an environment that values talent and innovation. Ever since its establishment, UMS has made consistent efforts to develop modern infrastructures and mechanisms, and a capable academic faculty supported by efficient management to provide an effective platform for nurturing young generations.

About University of Malaysia Sabah UMS

Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) is an institution of higher education established on 24 November 1994. It is located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The first development was in 2000 when UMS completed the first phase of its construction on 999-acre land. It also opened an international campus in 1999 located in Labuan. Later on in 2011, UMS also opened an agriculture Campus in Sandakan. 

UMS has a focus on the quality of graduates, institutions, and of the overall system in a variety of fields. With more than 1200 dedicated academicians, many of them have won awards nationally and internationally for their research and innovation. 

UMS offers 64 bachelor programs, with a total of ten faculties.

Under the Ministry of Higher Education Star Rating project (MyMOHES), the university has achieved 5 star ranking. Not long ago, UMS was ranked one of the top 200 in QS World Ranking by Subject in Agriculture and Forestry. The university is also ranked fourth in the top choice universities among Malaysia’s STPM/Matriculation/Foundation leavers.

Campus Information UMS

Since its establishment, UMS has made continuous effort to develop modern infrastructure, with amazing landscape and stunning structures. It is one of the most beautiful university campuses in Malaysia with its own beach and jetty. 

UMS has various facilities available:

UMS's accommodation consists of terraced houses and apartments.

The residential blocks are called 'Kampung' AB, CD and E located within the University campus. These blocks can hold up to 5,700 students. 

The rest are situated outside, all within easy driving distance.
