Updates Regarding The Entry For Dependants Of International Students Into Malaysia
1. PURPOSE
1.1 EMGS would like to provide an update on the latest directive received from the Malaysian Immigration Department regarding the entry for Dependants of International Students into Malaysia.
2. IMPLEMENTATION
2.1 Beginning 23rd November 2021, the Malaysian Immigration Department will allow Dependants of International Students to enter Malaysia.
2.2 The Malaysia Immigration Department has categorised the Dependants is several categories which are:
a) Existing Dependant Pass holders (defined as dependants of international students who have already obtained the dependant pass). This category is further broken down into 2 groups which are:
i) Dependants with a valid Dependant Pass
ii) Dependants with an expired Dependant Pass
b) New Dependants (defined as any new dependant that wants to apply for a dependant pass to accompany the principal student pass holder in Malaysia)
2.3 The entrance procedures to Malaysia for the dependants in the categories mentioned above is explained in the table below:

1. Existing Dependant Pass holders a) Dependant Pass holder that is still valid |
• Not required to apply for MyTravel Pass and can enter Malaysia |
b) Dependant Pass holder that has expired | • Required to apply for the MyTravel Pass via the Malaysian Immigration Department website. • To apply for the Single-Entry Visa (SEV) if it is required to enter Malaysia. |
2. New Dependants | To ensure that the passport is valid for more than 18 months. • The principal must have received their student pass. • Required to apply for the MyTravel Pass via the Malaysian Immigration Department website. • To apply for the Single-Entry Visa (SEV) if it is required to enter Malaysia. |
2.4 Kindly note that the entry procedures for international students (inclusive of their dependants) is subject to the guidelines from the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA)
2.5 This directive is also subjected to the rules and guidelines by the enforcement agencies which are set by the Government of Malaysia
2.6 International Students that are studying in Sabah and Sarawak are required to obtain approval from authorities in those states.
