Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) aspires to lead in market oriented academic programmes which are student-focused through experiential learning. The campus is located in Batu Pahat, the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia. The University’s history began on 16 September 1993 with the formation of Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP), which trained experts in various fields of engineering.

Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia was formerly known as Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP). It was established on 16th September 1993. On April 12, 1996 the institution upgraded to Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO) and later on 27th September 2000, ITTHO was awarded a university-college status. On February 1, 2007, the institution received full university status and on March 2, 2007, was changed to Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).

On 12 April 1996, PLSP was upgraded and known as Institute Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO). Subsequently, through its scientific and technological contributions, ITTHO obtained university status and became Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (KUiTTHO) on 27 September 2000. On 1 February 2007, KUiTTHO was renamed and became Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).

At UTHM, the academic calendar is divided into two semesters. However, tuition fees are calculated per year. For local citizens, tuition fees at UTHM start from 220 USD. Accommodation

UTHM provides accommodations, from single room halls to family houses. Every accommodation is situated within Parit Raja town and Batu Pahat district.

At UTHM, the accommodation where students stay is called a "Kolej Kediaman" (KK), or Residential College. The accommodation is divided into two categories, in campus and off campus. Every student who studies there will be provided with campus accommodation.
