The Diploma in Opticianry aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of ocular anatomy and human physiology as well as insights into materials and designs used in ophthalmic lenses and spectacle frames.
Students will experience an immersive learning environment which involves theoretical sessions, practical activities, and procedures that are conducted in labs and simulation wards. Most importantly, students will be placed into clinical attachments with optical and optometry centers, thus enabling them to gain crucial real life practical experiences, while increasing the effectiveness of their communication skills.

Opticians are eyecare professionals with sound understanding in refraction, ophthalmic lenses, and dispensing. With the help of various ophthalmic machineries, opticians read their client’s eyesight, dispense a pair of corrective spectacles and provide them with general eyecare tips to protect eyesight.
Did you know that a registered Optician in Malaysia is eligible to run for eyecare businesses with his/her license? How does one become an Optician? To become an Optician, you need to complete a Diploma in Opticianry and register with the Malaysian Optical Council (MOC).
At Vision College, students of Diploma in Opticianry (DIO) will get to experience an immersive learning environment which involves practical and clinical sessions that are conducted in clinical lab, dispensing lab, and our in-house eye care centre. Additionally, industrial attachment with optical or optometry centres will also be provided for students to gain crucial real-life experiences, while enhancing their communication and interpersonal skills. By completing DIO, students will acquire the skills in diagnosing refractive errors, prescribing and dispensing vision aids.
Upon successful completion, graduates will be registered with the prestigious Malaysian Optical Council (MOC) and become licensed opticians. This programme is approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), thus enabling graduates to secure a rewarding career or further their studies at any higher education institutions.

Entry Requirement of Diploma in Opticianry (DIO) in Vision College Malaysia
Passed SPM with 3 credits, including 2 from Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics. Pass grade in English is mandatory.
Fellow of British Dispensing Opticians (FBDO) UK or equivalent;
Complete UEC with 3 credits, including 2 from Biology, Physics, Chemistry; or Mathematics).Pass grade in English is mandatory.
Completed Certificate of Optical Technology with a CGPA of 2.0.
