Overview of Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Malaysia

Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours offered by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) aims to provide full-time undergraduate professional training for future pharmacists. 

Pharmacy is an interdisciplinary field that integrates knowledge of medical and health sciences, chemistry of drugs, formulation of drugs, and disease prevention and management leading towards patient care. As you build your foundation on these basic knowledge, in the later years you will also learn the processes of drug manufacturing, methods to analyse the quality of drug products, approaches to manage patient’s drug therapy, and conducting research. 

In the immersive final year training, you will experience real-life training on pharmaceutical manufacturing, management of pharmacy business, delivery of pharmacy related services in hospital and community settings, therapeutic management of real patients and the application of pharmacy-related policies, in which all of these will equip you with the skills of quality management of medication focusing on quality patient care.

Scientific Basis of Diseases, Human Biochemistry, Formulation Sciences, Chemistry of Drugs, Introduction to Pharmacy Profession, Microbiology, Basic Pharmacology and Toxicology, Dosage Design & Development I, Drug Design and Development, Professional Communication and Patient Education

 

Year 2

Immunology, Pharmacology of the Peripheral Nervous System, Pharmacotherapy of Endocrine Disorders and Autacoids, Dosage Design & Development II, Pharmacopoeia Methods for Drug Analysis, Traditional and Complementary Medicines, Approach to Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy of Infection, Infestation & Immune Disorders, Pharmacotherapy of Renal and Genitourinary Disorders, Dosage Design & Development III, Spectroscopic Techniques for Drug Analysis, Legislation, ethics and policies in Pharmacy

 

Year 3

Pharmacotherapy of Central Nervous System Disorders, Pharmacotherapy of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Disorders, Statistics and Research Methodology, Quality Assurance of Pharmaceutical, Community Pharmacy Practice, Specialised Pharmacy Services I, Pharmaceutical Care of Special Population, Research Project I, Pharmacotherapy of Gastrointestinal Disorders, Pharmacotherapy of Musculoskeletal and Integumentary Disorders, Pharmacotherapy of Oncology and Haematology, Specialised Pharmacy Services II, Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeoconomics, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Radiopharmaceuticals

SPM Basic Requirements for Malaysian Candidates

A minimum of B for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and any one more subject*

A minimum of C for Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Inggeris
