Overview of Bachelor of science ( hons ) in Robotic design and development in Taylor's University Malaysia

Robotic Design and Development at Taylor's is a multi-disciplinary programme combining mechanical engineering, electrical & electronics and computer science. It is designed to equip students with a sound understanding of fundamental theories and concepts in Robotics technology. This programme incorporates Work-Based Learning for students in their 3rd year. This will allow students to develop specialist knowledge, theory and skills by using the workplace as a context for project-based or practice-evidenced learning. Learn how you can step closer to your dream of impacting the ever-evolving world of robotics.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The degree programme will cover the methodical processes such as algorithms, in order to acquire, represent, process, store, communicate and access information.

With this degree students will embark on Work-Based Learning (WBL) for their 3rd year. 

 

PRIMARY MAJOR

This component consists of Common Core subjects, which are common modules across a discipline that provides the fundamental knowledge of the discipline.

UNIVERSITY CORE

This component aims to develop critical thinking, build up social intelligence and cultivate civic responsibility as well as broaden cultural knowledge. These consist of compulsory and nationally-mandated study modules required by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education.

FLEXIBLE EDUCATION

The Flexible Education component provides student the flexibility to study modules in a related or unrelated field from the same or different school to complement the Primary Major. It may be completed in a form of free electives, an extension, minors or a second major that typically requires at least one (1) semester of student learning time.

  • SPM / O-Level with Pre-U / Foundation

Pass SPM / O-Level or equivalent with 5 credits (including Additional Mathematics) for entry with Pre-University / Foundation qualification

  • SPM / O-Level with Diploma

Pass SPM / O-Level or equivalent with 3 credits (including Additional Mathematics) for entry with Diploma / Pre-University qualification

  • Taylor's Foundation / Diploma

Pass Foundation in Science with min CGPA of 2.00 (only applicable to Engineering Science option) Pass Foundation in Engineering/Computing with min. CGPA 2.00

  • Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM)

Min. Grade CCC with GCPA of 2.00

  • Unified Examination Certificate (UEC)

Pass with 5Bs including B in Mathematics

  • A Levels

Pass with min. EEE or equivalent of 120 points including Mathematics

  • South Australian Matriculation (SAM) / SACE International

Min. ATAR 65 including Mathematics (preferably Specialist Mathematics)

  • Canadian Pre-University (CPU)

Min. average of 60% average in 6 subjects including Advanced Functions, Calculus & Vectors and Physics / Chemistry

  • International Baccalaureate (IB)

Min. 24 points in 6 subjects including Mathematics

  • Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY)

Min 55% including Mathematics A & B

  • Other Qualifications

A pass in Diploma in Computer Science or Diploma in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 and a credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM or its equivalent
