Overview of Diploma in Early Childhood Education in HELP University Malaysia
To become qualified and certified, the Educator-Carer is required to have the Diploma in Early Childhood Education for personal and professional identity, and children, families and community. The DECE programme is appropriate with five qualities:
An opportunity to learn and upgrade English proficiency to the level required for the degree or BECE (Hons) programme
A balanced preparation for work in any early childhood settings as a result of the 8 week workplace practicum and empirical based course and fieldwork.
Exceptionally strong in the social and psychological understanding of the child
Caters to the needs of and facilitates the successful development of each Educator-Carer.
Promotes the creativity and talents of Educator-Carers across ECCE settings and scenario, such as in arts, music, drama and constructions.

Teaching-Learning Modes
Beside lectures and tutorials, classes are conducted in the learning laboratory. Fieldwork and empirical studies are carried out with children that highlight the importance of experiential engagement.
Mastery of lesson planning that reflects appropriateness for differing ages.
Trial-run lesson plans to evaluate appropriateness for the target children.
Documentation of children’s learning progress along the developmental continuum.
Ample opportunities to create and develop curriculum portfolio for each of the early childhood curriculum

Assessment of Diploma in Early Childhood Education in HELP University Malaysia
To reflect the focus of the DECE programme on the education of the preschool teacher and edu-carer, the range of assessment modes reflects the aims of professional preparation and academic studies. The three general modes of assessment apply to most subjects.
Mid-Term Test or Assignment or Practicum
Portfolio or Journal or Inquiry Report
Final Examination – Formative assessment constitutes 60-70% and examination is given 30- 40% of the overall marks

SPM / SPMV / MCE
At least 3 credits
Other equivalent qualification as approved by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA)
