Overview of Diploma in Chemical Engineering in University of Malaysia Pahang UMP
Malaysia
In the approval granted by the Ministry of Higher Education in a letter dated 19 March 2002 to the application to offer new program made by Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan & Teknologi Malaysia (KUKTEM) which later became known as Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), one of the programs approved was Diploma in Chemical Engineering (Process Plant) or better known by its Malay acronym, DKK for Diploma Kejuruteraan Kimia. The first intake of DKK consisted of approximately 40 students who enrolled in the 2003/2004 academic session. The duration of this diploma program is 2 years and 9 months.
Diploma in Chemical Engineering in Malaysia(Process Plant) requires students to complete 90 total credit hours. This course has been developed not only to provide students with the knowledge of chemical engineering but also to give them exposure to aspects of humanities and social sciences. To enhance students’ understanding of the chemical engineering principles, experimental activities are carried out in dedicated chemical engineering laboratories.
